Swiss Army Knife / Animated Branding

For this SCAD project, I modeled and animated a Swiss army knife, transforming it into an upbeat branding spot.

Drawing inspiration from the charm of old comic book advertisements, my goal was to bring the versatility of the knife's myriad tools to life.

The result is a fast-paced and fun showcase that highlights the multi-functionality of the Swiss army knife, paying homage to vintage comic book ads, while embracing the power of contemporary 3D animation

PROCESS

Modeling in Maya

I started the project in Maya, but moved the geometry to Cinema 4D for animation and 3D rendering in Redshift.

Style Moodboard

To craft the visual style of the animation, I drew inspiration from the timeless allure of old comic book advertisements. Using a nostalgic touch, I integrated the vibrant and dynamic visual language reminiscent of classic comic book art.

A subtle paper texture is added as a finisher, creating an authentic vintage feel that not only pays homage to the source of inspiration but also adds a tactile depth to this animated branding spot, evoking the charm and character of a bygone era.
